At 13 years old, William was grieving the loss of his brother and battling loneliness, anxiety, and self-harm. Knowing he needed more support in his twilight years, his devoted dad made the heartbreaking decision to find him a new home.

After connecting with us and learning about our sanctuary, William’s dad felt reassured—and made the incredible nine-hour interstate journey to meet us.

William instantly bonded with Finn, one of our long-time residents. With heavy hearts, and immense respect for William’s dad, who chose what was best for his beloved boy, we gently helped prepare William for the journey back to the sanctuary.

William is a favourite with all residents and you will often find him sitting quietly, captivated by the horses.

Minnie

Minnie's journey from a $50 purchase at a rural auction, where her condition left her without any bids, was uncertain. With doubts about her surviving the 5-hour drive home, her fate hung in the balance. Petrified of men, spirited in her handling, and distant from equine companions, Minnie faced quite a challenge.

Fast forward and Minnie

Fast forward and Minnie is a transformed pony. Taking her role of protecting Huey, her stable mate, to heart, she's retained her spice but blossomed into a sweetie pie.

Luna was discovered during a scorching Australian heatwave - emaciated, blind, terrified, and trapped in a fence. Moments after her arrival, she collapsed. We worked quickly to cool her down and called in veterinarians for an urgent quality-of-life assessment.

Luna’s condition was critical: she suffered from a severe mouth infection, internal parasites, blindness, and neurological complications. At just four years old, her prognosis was uncertain and we were told the next five days would determine if she’d survive.

Through round-the-clock care and a specialised diet,  Luna defied the odds. Today, she is thriving and happily follows our flock around the property, only a few steps behind.

Now, at the heart of the sanctuary, these sweethearts have become visitor favorites. Their nurturing instincts kick in as guardians to new arrivals, especially lambs, creating an adorable dynamic where they sleep with them and stand protectively between them and any threat. It's heartening to see such natural caregivers in action!

Huey

Huey’s young life changed in an instant when he unexpectedly woke during a routine gelding procedure. In the attempt to safely sedate him again, his delicate neck was injured, resulting in two fractured vertebrae.

Today, Huey's is all cheeky demeanor and Has a zest for life. From rolling in mud to hat theft and tipping over wheelbarrows, Huey embraces each day with a mischievous charm that speaks volumes of his joy despite the challenges he's faced.

Olive, Rose and Crystal

Olive, Rose, and Crystal entered this world with ties to the food industry, their lives limited to a few months.  Olive and Rose, orphaned babies, were rescued from freezing paddocks just days old. Crystal, one of three special lambs from a nearby rescue, joined our family soon after. They formed a snug family unit, always including their beloved Chocolate & Chip.

These ladies exude sass and charisma. Never ones to let you pass by unnoticed, their calls serve as a delightful reminder of their vibrant personalities.

Finn

Finn was discovered on the streets and estimated to be around 10 years old, his behavioral challenges limited his rehoming prospects. However, upon assessment by our vets, it became apparent that Finn was closer to 13 years old, battling skin and prostate cancer, and burdened by arthritis, all compounded by intense stress from the shelter

Finn was discovered on the streets and estimated to be around 10 years old, his behavioral challenges limited his rehoming prospects. However, upon assessment by our vets, it became apparent that Finn was closer to 13 years old, battling skin and prostate cancer, and burdened by arthritis, all compounded by intense stress from the shelter.

We've embraced Finn with palliative care, offering him a safe and serene haven to spend his remaining days. Sharing his space with sheep and goats, reveling in the company of birds, and following his nose wherever it leads, Finn has found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life.
